Panthers @ Saints (Saints -3.5 O/U 41.5)
I’m only going to make one play this weekend on one game that doesn’t matter, and I’m only going to make this play based on one thing:
Last week the Saints were blaring “Dreams and Nightmares” in the locker room after they beat the Eagles. That means they are really into winning games that absolutely don’t matter at all.
Saints -3.5
Cardinals @ 49ers (49ers -14 O/U 39.5)
Man, I do not like this pick, but it seems like the right one.
The Cardinals stink baby. There’s a very good chance, that the Cardinals at this moment are the worst football team this entire season. I absolutely cannot wait until June or July when I decide to watch the In-Season Hard Knocks so I can reminisce on what an absolute trainwreck their season has been. It’ll be great. How many quarterbacks have been on Hard Knocks for two different teams in the same season?
1. They just started doing the In-Season Hard Knocks last year, so it’s actually a very small sample size and a pretty easy question to answer I guess. David Blough.
This guy stinks. I don’t care that he had an okay game against a Falcons team who played with reckless abandon. This game actually means something for the 49ers and they're going to light him up, both physically and mentally.
I know that the 49ers are going to be scoreboard-watching the Eagles’ game, but they’re going to wait until that game gets WELL out of hand before they bench their starters, and I could be convinced that they wouldn’t sit Purdy that way he gets more reps. I know it wouldn’t be the smartest move and it might even be a downright dumb-guy move, but again, I could be convinced that they do that, because I, myself, am a dumb guy. I think that by the time (if the time even comes) for the 49ers to pull their good guys, they’ll have that 14 points covered by a good amount and they’ll be able to hold onto that lead.
I don’t like it because it’s an assload of points, but…
49ers -14
Lions @ Packers (Packers -5 O/U 49)
The last time these guys played, the score was 15-9 with the Lions winning. That was in Detroit. Aaron threw 3 interceptions and if I recall correctly, 2 of those were in the endzone and the other one was in the red zone. That was a long time ago, back in week 8.
This time it’s in Green Bay. In January. In 24-degree weather. And it’s going to feel like 14-degree weather.
And Jared Goff is an inside dog.
I’m with everybody: I want the Lions to make it into the playoffs. I know that their future is not in their hands, but even if it were, this is neither a spot nor the weather for Jared to be good Jared.
Last week I said that the Bears weren’t going to be able to pull their weight to hit the over in their game against the Lions and this week, I don’t think the Lions are going to be able to pull their weight to hit the over with the Packers. I think it’ll be a nail-biter, but it’ll go under
And hey, it’s a Prime Time game. It’d be a poetic cap to this game for it to go under.
